MÖTLEY CRÜE's NIKKI SIXX: 'We're Circus Freaks'

February 23, 2005

MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx spoke to Toronto's Metro newspaper about the group's "Red, White, and Crüe 2005...Better Live Than Dead" tour, which hits Toronto's Air Canada Centre tonight (Feb. 23).

"We are just fucking pigs," Sixx said. "We're circus freaks. We're not even going to try to fit in, because we really don't fit anywhere. We have to throw our own party because no one will let us go to theirs."

"It's more like a carnival — a white-trash carnival — meets a freak show," Sixx said of the band's live show.

"Somebody from the music industry came backstage after our first gig and said, 'This is what we've been missing all these years,'" Sixx, 46, said. "Young people have heard about it, others saw versions of this back in its heyday. All we're doing is just carrying the flag for the '70s. We're fortunate to have carved out something that maybe nobody else has done exactly like us. Nobody has sounded like us. Or quite looked like us."
